The target language audit

The Target Language Audit is a detailed analysis of a company’s specific language needs together with a thorough language assessment of individual employees.

The Language Audit is used:

  • to determine employee language needs specific to their job functions and positions. We establish the difference between present language ability and the amount of language competence necessary to perform work duties effectively in English. The course length and syllabus is then structured on the basis of employee needs.
  • to determine the language competence of new recruits, or as a basis for promoting employees to positions that require a specified level of language ability
  • to obtain individual goals, learning styles and training needs of each individual student.
  • as a means to measure progress made throughout the course.

A thorough language audit includes the following components:

  1. A language needs analysis determining the optimal language level ability for a specific job function or position.
  2. Verification of language competence and individual employee needs:
    • Written assessment – verifies the employee’s knowledge of general and business English vocabulary, grammatical structures and written ability.
    • Oral Assessment – includes a one on one meeting with our academic director who determines the employee’s speaking and listening capabilities.
    • Target Needs Analysis – determines in what situations certain language aspects are used by  the employee and what specific language aspects the employee needs to concentrate on in relation to his division or position.
  3. Establish the variation between the optimal language level ability and current language ability of the employee and dividing employees into appropriate groups consistent with level ability, language needs and ultimate goals.
  4. Create learning channels for employees:
    • Establishing the most appropriate form of tuition: individual or group lessons, intensive or standard courses, workshops or study abroad.
    • Establishing the most appropriate means of tuition: lessons with exclusively native speaking English teachers, lessons with exclusively Polish speaking English teachers or a dual system of both Polish and native speaking teachers.
    • Group formation.
    • Create a course syllabus together with time measurements as a means for accomplishing ultimate goals.
    • Establish the most appropriate learning materials.
